Planet Fantastic is an edutainment science fiction and fantasy film screening and industry-talk series informed by the arts and sciences. Our initiatives help develop creators in science fiction and fantasy film and television, while supporting emerging STEM innovators.

what we’ve done
- Provided career development and project development for college and university students, as well as emerging to mid-career writers, directors, and producers from diverse backgrounds
- Received endorsements from prominent figures and organizations
- Sourced, managed, and organized a 450-person global industry event at the world’s first permanent IMAX theatre
- Sourced speakers/producers from North America and Europe to speak remotely: Richard Donner (Superman, Goonies, Lethal Weapon 1-4, The Omen); a producer of the X-Men franchise; and a three-time Oscar-winning VFX inventor.
- Presented Brownman Ali, Canada’s “pre-eminent jazz trumpet player,” to open the screening of Richard Matheson’s The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) with the film’s haunting musical score.
